Your private tour starts when Mayfield’s exclusive tour partner arrives to collect you at your accommodation, which can be located anywhere in the Bathurst CBD or Oberon township.

From there you will be transported in a luxury Mercedes Benz van to Mayfield for a personal tour of the garden, where you will get to see some areas of the garden which are not usually accessible to visitors.

You will get to explore all key features of the garden including what is one of Australia’s largest and most significant box hedge mazes, the family chapel, rose garden, croquet lawn, the sculptured garden, and amphitheatre.

You will be served a private lunch in the Glass House, accompanied by a visit to the adjacent walled kitchen garden, both of which are exclusive family areas. Following lunch, you will get the opportunity to visit other features of the private family garden and the Mayfield retail precinct before being transported back to your accommodation. It will be a day you’ll never forget.

Testimonials

I had an amazing day with Bathurst Luxury Tours experiencing our Exclusive Mayfield Tour. This is an opportunity to see the garden like no other members of the public ever will and also meet our wonderful Mayfield team whose knowledge of all things horticultural is awe-inspiring. If you ever get the opportunity to experience any of Ian’s tours don’t miss out!

One of the best bus tours we have been on.

We were a bit apprehensive about what the garden would be like in late autumn, but it was beautiful. The autumn colours still lit up the garden, and a few winter flowering buds were emerging. The bulb plantings were peeping through the ground, and there are so many different mass plantings that the garden would be delightful in all seasons.

Thanks to the family, landscapers, architects, volunteers and so many more who have created an oasis for all to enjoy. I found an article in House and Garden two days prior to our four-day getaway. We took a punt and decided to include this as it meant driving longer to get home to Canberra. It was worth it, and we stayed for as long as we could. The gardens are the biggest, privately owned in the Southern Hemisphere and they are still continuing extending the gardens. We arrived in early spring and agreed we need to come back in mid to late spring for the full blooms. But still, we were in awe of the layout, hundreds of varieties of flora and fauna, water ponds, grotto, gallery and so on. Highly recommend to anyone. Just take sunscreen, hat and raincoat as the weather is fairly unpredictable…just like Melbourne.

Truly magnificent gardens on a grandiose scale. The whole thing is amazing and a tribute to the owners and staff.
